Book Review: The I Believe Bunny by Tish Rabe, Illustrated by Frank Endersby

The I Believe Bunny is a new children’s picture book by Tish Rabe and illustrated by Frank Endersby. This book is the first in a series put out by Thomas Nelson Publishing to help young children learn about putting their faith into action. In this first installment, Bunny encounters a little mouse in need of saving from a rushing river. When Bunny is unable to save the mouse on her own, she prays for God’s help and her friends show up to help save the mouse. The lesson at the end of the story is this:

“Have faith in God’s love,
and you’ll find when you do,
nothing you try will be
impossible for you.”

The I Believe Bunny is a cute story with well drawn illustrations and well-formed rhymes which give the story a very sing-song quality to it. This book would work well with kids between 2 and 5 years old. While I do like the idea of a series to teach kids about putting their faith into action, this book really oversimplifies prayer and the message of Philippians 4:13. Hopefully, future books avoid this.

In addition to this first book, there is a companion website under construction as well as a second book, Sharing With You.
