The Bible in 90 Days

Posted by henryjz On July - 7 - 2009

Last month our music and arts pastor challenged some of us to join him in The Bible in 90 Days. For those of you who don’t know what that is, you can click on the link to find out more. In short, it’s a program to read through the entire Bible in 90 Days. Yes, it’s as hard as it sounds. Currently, I’m about 5 days behind the reading schedule.

Now, while I have my cynical comments to make about the video above and the church-y-ness of it all, wouldn’t it be great to be able to help families to go through the Bible in 90 Days? It would be a HUGE challenge, but I think it would be feasible if families had help. I have added to my challenge of reading through this time around to come up with a reading plan that families can do together which would entail more highlighting a few major passages or stories from scriptures scheduled to be read each day and put together 90 days worth of blog posts to be put up on our parent blog (which is still being developed) for the church. This way, parents can be reminded of which passages they should be reading as well as some suggested passages to read as a family and highlight each day.

It’s amazing, already, the perspective you get when you read through the entire Bible in this amount of time. It’s my hope that families become more familiar with the greater picture/story that is in the Bible as they go through something like this together. We will probably start the challenge in the fall and be done before Christmas. I will post a link to the plan when it goes up then.

  • Has anyone else done anything like this at their church?
  • What are some ways that you get families to be familiar with the entire Bible?
